When I think about how to define systemic psychotherapy, I imagine a boat journey—sometimes through calm seas, other times through turbulent waters— but never alone.
For me, it is a journey of shared discovery, where therapist and client(s) explore side by side the relational maps that shape each person’s experience.
Individual, Couple, and Family psychotherapist | Social Worker
I have been working at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte (Hospital de Santa Maria and Hospital Pulido Valente) since 2001.
Since 2015, I have been part of the Psychiatry and Mental Health Service at the Prof. Daniel Sampaio Integrated Psychiatric Unit for Adolescents, encompassing Day Unit, Inpatient, and Outpatient services. In this role, I work with young people exhibiting at-risk behaviors and their families from a systemic perspective.
At SPES, I work with young people through to early adulthood. It is a privilege for me to engage with individuals, couples, and families—helping improve communication, understand relational patterns, and collaboratively find new ways to navigate challenges. I believe that a therapeutic relationship can provide a safe space, strengthen attachments, promote balance and support the development of healthier relationships.
