At SPES, we believe that many changes occur in our relationships with others. That's why we're starting to offer a new type of support: Therapeutic Groups, tailored to different life stages and needs.
Group therapy is a form of psychological intervention in which several people, accompanied by one or more therapists, meet regularly in a safe, structured, and confidential setting. Although each participant has their own story, the group creates the possibility of discovering shared experiences, learning about other perspectives, and also learning through relationships with others.
One of the greatest advantages of this approach is precisely the feeling of belonging. Realizing that certain doubts, fears, or difficulties are also experienced by other people can reduce feelings of isolation and contribute to a greater understanding and acceptance of oneself.
Throughout the sessions, the group also becomes a space where it is possible to observe and understand ways of communicating and relating, identify patterns, experiment with different responses, and develop new emotional and relational skills. Sharing experiences allows one to look at the same situation from different points of view and find possibilities that, individually, might be more difficult to recognize.
Group therapy does not necessarily replace individual, family, or couples therapy. These are different modalities that may be indicated individually or, in some situations, complement each other. The suitability of each group will therefore be assessed beforehand by the team.
At SPES, groups will be developed from a systemic and relational perspective, understanding each person within the context of their relationships, their history, and the stage of life they are in.
In the first phase, we are preparing different proposals, including youth groups, parent groups, and couples groups, each with its own objectives and structure.
In youth groups, peer relationships can become an important therapeutic resource, allowing them to work on issues such as self-esteem, belonging, anxiety, identity, family relationships, friendships, communication, and relational difficulties.
In parent groups, the aim is to create a space where it is possible to reflect on parenthood, better understand some family dynamics, share doubts and challenges, and find new ways to respond to the different stages of children's growth.
Couples' groups allow for working on themes such as communication, conflict, intimacy, sexuality, parenting, and changes throughout the life cycle, benefiting from the reflection that also arises through contact with other couples.
Each group will have a limited number of participants and specific integration criteria, in order to preserve the safety, trust, and quality of the therapeutic work.
We will soon announce the first dates and registration information.
