I have a broad experience, having taken on multiple roles in both clinical and organizational contexts, as well as across different cultures. These experiences, combined with ongoing training, have shaped the distinctive perspective I bring to my work. I focus on decision-making processes — how people think, feel, interpret reality and, ultimately, make choices. My approach, rooted in systemic practice and third-generation therapies, emphasizes not only understanding the past but also helping people feel more capable of facing present dilemmas, making decisions aligned with their values, and strengthening their ability to act in
accordance with what they believe, always with awareness of their relational ecosystem.
I hold a degree in Clinical Psychology from ISPA. I worked in England in Therapeutic Communities for children and young people at risk. I completed postgraduate training at the Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex, where I also served as a Teaching Assistant. I supervised several teams of Residential Care Homes for Children and Youth at Risk in both public institutions and NGOs, and co-coordinated the
Graduate Program in Residential Care of Children and Youth at Risk at ISPA.
My interest in deepening this field took me to Texas, where I completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Developmental Psychopathology Lab at the University of Houston. During this time, I also trained at the Houston Galveston Institute (HGI),
internationally recognized for its collaborative systemic interventions. Later, I worked
as a consultant in Organizational Change at an international consulting firm in its Houston Hub, following the completion of my MBA at Rice University, where I also served as a Teaching Assistant.
I hold further training in Family and Couple Therapy from the Portuguese Society for Family Therapy, in Third-Generation Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (Psikontacto), in Mentalization-Based Treatment (UCLA, USA), in Coaching (Leister Consultants,
Madrid) and an MBA from Rice University (Houston, USA).
I am the editor of a book on intervention with children at risk (Climepsi, 2013) and of a recent book on psychodynamic-based interventions in organizations (Routledge, 2024).
I have presented dozens of papers at conferences in Portugal, Spain, and England on these areas of work.
