Although sexuality is a central dimension of human life, it is still often lived in silence, overshadowed by taboos and prejudice. Yet clinical experience shows that emotional and relational difficulties are frequently linked to sexual life — and that sexual
challenges can deeply affect self-esteem, mental health, and relationships.
At SPES, we believe that sexology and psychotherapy should not be separate fields but complementary ones. Their dialogue allows us to understand the person in a more holistic way, bringing together emotions, bonds, the body, and desire. Often, issues that arise in the sexual sphere reflect deeper relational or emotional dynamics; at other times, emotional difficulties manifest through sexuality.
Creating space to talk about sexuality in a therapeutic context is a vital step in breaking silence, dismantling prejudice, and fostering well-being. Care in this area is provided with full respect, confidentiality, and easiness, helping individuals and couples explore their experiences in a safe environment.
By integrating sexology and psychotherapy, SPES makes a clear commitment: to treat sexual health as an essential part of both mental and relational health, promoting more balanced, fulfilling, and happy relationships.
Sexuality is an integral part of health and deserves its place in psychological care.
